Each piece of Acorn Road furniture is crafted from the world's finest timber. We have been importing French Oak from Burgundy, France, for over a decade and we have come to learn that no other wood product comes close to its charm, beauty and character.
Our partner mill in France has been using the same traditional techniques and craftsmanship to harvest and mill its Oak for over 70 years. As a family-run business, the care and passion they show when preparing these 200-year-old French Oak trees is something to behold. And we lead by their example.
All of our products are as sustainable as they possibly can be, and that starts with our French Oak. The French have been caring for their forests since before it was even a 'thing'. We're proud that we know exactly where our French Oak comes from and that we know it is being responsibly sourced from protected forests.
Our Oak Trees may only be milled once they reach a certain width and age. Every year, trees are measured to determine their suitability to be used for timber. As a result of these strict guidelines, forests are able to keep their lush density and the environmental impact on these regions is greatly mitigated.
Each piece of furniture is lovingly transported from our workshop to your home, no matter where you are.
We can provide a origin certification for proof that our French Oak is from exactly where we say it's from!
We know that our French Oak will last a lifetime. So we back that with a lifetime guarantee!

Thanks to this, and the fact that the quality of the product speaks for itself, we are able to assure quality in every inch of our furniture.
From the thoughtful felling of the trees to the initial milling of the boards and kiln and air drying processes, our French Oak table tops begin their journey to your home in carefully considered fashion. And the love doesn't end when they leave France. Our commitment to caring for the product is as though we had grown it ourselves.
There is a reason that the world's finest wines are matured in French Oak barrels. The soil and conditions in which French Oak is grown paves the way for a timber far superior to many others. And that's for a few reasons...
- French Oak has minimal lateral expansion ensuring a beautiful grain
- French Oak is hard-wearing and has been used in interiors for centuries
- French Oak is has a high tannin content and reacts incredibly with finishes
- It is impermeable, making it great for furniture
It is important to note, not all French Oak is equal though! Knowing exactly where your French Oak came from will ensure you are buying the absolute highest quality timber.
French Oak is relatively hardwearing so you don't have to worry too much about care and maintenance. That said, there are some things that you need to know.
No natural timber likes moisture, so make sure you wipe up spills quickly, and clean using only a lightly dampened cloth. Just like any table, make sure you don't put hot plates onto the surface.
Yes, you can refinish our Oak.
Our French Oak tops come pre-finished using our specially developed French Oak hard wax oil finish. This finish is a zero colour finish that provides a light protective barrier, so you can still feel the Oak's natural silkiness and see its beautiful natural hue.
That said, if you want to refinish it you can. All our tops are solid French Oak meaning you can sand them and refinish them a number of times to your liking.
Well, we can't definitively say no, but we do think you'll be hard-pressed to find genuine French Oak furniture anywhere else in Australia. And if you do, we don't know if you'll find these modern styles or at these prices.
Our furniture is designed so modern Australians can bring this incredible product into their homes without having to opt for an out-dated, expensive or huge piece!
We are happy to be proved wrong though!
Yes! Providing you treat it well and care for it as per our recommendations, your French Oak will last forever. It's already 200+-years-old, what's a few more decades?
